Yes, I’ve been a very bad blogger. Looking back, my last post was December 2nd. Egad. In a conversation with my Mother-In-Law (MIL) a couple weeks ago, even she mentioned to me “that’s not good”.
*Sigh*
I know I need to be more consistent. I know I should have some Grand Master Plan. But I don’t and somehow life just seems to get in the way sometimes. Or a lot.
I mean, I knew better then to set any genealogy goals for December. Meant to mention that in my November goals recap. Uh, pending on that…
So, life got really in the way. But I’m back. And the internets can just take its wagging little finger and go play somewhere else now thankyouverymuch.
(PS – Hi Nancy! Just in case you’re checking up on me to see if I’m getting my act together)

One tool that might help is using an editorial calendar, much like newspapers and magazines do. Take a monthly calendar, print it out blank and then fill in topics you might want to cover. Some topics can relate to holidays such as today – Valentine’s Day if you have anything related to that in terms of mementos or family stories. Also you can use the Daily Blogging Prompts at GeneaBloggers (http://www.geneabloggers.com/daily-blogging-prompts/) for inspiration.
Yea, the editorial calendar was one of my November goals that fell off the wagon. I’m still going to try that approach, but I’m more of a “when inspiration hits” writer. Need to combine the two…
What about the education and business-development parts? I see your profile over in the local APG Chapter site (I’m in the new Second Life one instead at the moment), so that’s at least a partial “done”. There are plenty of ways to progress between the inspiration hits; so says someone coming back after a decade-or-so hiatus.
I laughed when I read this because I thought maybe the title was talking about me! Life happens!!! I think it would help me if someone was grading me
I am great about turning in homework assignments on time – not so great at blogging “on time”. I’ll be waiting to see when inspiration hits you – I enjoy reading your blog!
Eric –
Yea, I finally got my profile to the APG chapter folks-nearly knocked them off their chairs when it finally showed up.
I set up a Second Life account, but that’s as far as I got with that chapter. Would be interesting to hear more details on that one like how often they meet and what they discuss. Thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks Diana! Hum, maybe I need to start grading myself. Oh wait, that’s my goals recap. Maybe I’ll bribe myself with some good chocolate. Hum…that actually has possibilities – LOL!
The Second Life one is monthly, but there are multiple non-APG ones with some of the same people throughout weekly topics, too. There’s an interview during RootsTech between two of them at DearMYRTLE’s Genealogy Blog.
Maybe someday I’ll get in there and figure it out and attend some of them. Thanks for the link to the interview.
