It was a busy day! There was a full schedule on tap at Jamboree today and the tweeps were out in full force. Thank you tweeps!
In fact, the conference is embracing Tweets so much that, even if you don’t ‘do’ Twitter, you can follow along in the hotel lobby on the “Twittertron”/“Jumbotron”. Yes, I squealed when I saw this pic tweeted by Susan Kitchens (@susankitchens):
Alas, I didn’t see any tweets from the session I mentioned yesterday that was of particular interest to me: John T. Humphrey’s Pennsylvania’s Land Records: An Indispensable Resource for Genealogists. Would still love into from that one. My McMullen family was in Pennsylvania for an undetermined amount of time until 1817 when they moved to Indiana. They were good little citizens in Indiana and left a decent paper trail, but man, they hid from everyone in Pennsylvania!
Anyway…what was tweeted?
Parts 1 and 2 of the Blogger Summit were very well tweeted and that was fun to see. As a newer blogger, always good to hear from folks who have been at it a while. This includes both the panelists and the bloggers in the audience who may, or may not, agree with what is being said. From the tweets, it looked like the big take away was that there is a blogging style for everybody and you can make it want you want it to be. I’m hoping that some folks who were there write some posts on it and their thoughts.
Also big was the Genealogy Gems Live Podcast lunch. I’ve already pre-ordered (via Amazon) The Last Muster: Images of the Revolutionary War Generation, a new book by Maureen Taylor (aka The Photo Detective) that was discussed and tweeted about during the podcast. The lucky ducks at Jamboree (Live!) can get it now. Maureen tweets under @PhotoDetective and blogs at The Photo Detective.
Miriam Robbins Midkiff (@kidmiff) tweeted Thomas MacEntee’s session: Twitter – It’s Not Just “What I Had For Breakfast!” Anymore. I LOVE that! Tweeting a session about twitter. [BTW – Thomas has several twitter handles, for the conference I’m see the most from @geneabloggers)
One of the coolest things for me to see are the pictures that are tweeted. Below is a list of links to the photo streams of some of the most prolific photo-tweeters! There’s even some pics showing up on Flickr so I’ve included that link again.
