So, I was talking to my Mom on the phone the other day and I asked about the name/address of the cemetery where my Grandma J is to be buried (she’s my maternal G-ma). My in-laws wanted to come to the service and I didn’t want to be sending them somewhere random.

Got the name—Crown Hill—and with a few quick clicks confirmed the address while Mom was trying to find the appropriate scrap of paper with that info on it (Mom doesn’t do computers).

“Yea, apparently a lot of her family is buried there including her father” Mom said oh so nonchalantly (and while I still hear paper being sorted).

Howard Bradell; b. 29 May 1891, New York, New York; d. 07 Nov 1944

Doh! Bad genealolgist! I didn’t know this why??? As I’m rummaging the back of my brain trying to remember if I did or didn’t already know this, Mom continues…

“And his second wife.”

Wham. Now I feel like Wylie Coyote just after being bested by the Road Runner.

After some ‘scuse me’s and mutterings I tuned back in as Mom was adding, “Yea, That’s who we would go to visit every Christmas. But no one ever mentioned the second wife part, we just thought she was a cousin”. OK, at least I’m not as bad as THAT!

So, new wall to scale for my Bradell side. I just want to say that this family is the biggest pain in the…well, you know. A quick seach at Find-a-Grave puts Crown Hill Cemetery in Colorado at 20,170 internments. Any sign of Howard in that? Not by last name there isn’t. Well, guess I’ll be taking a little walk to look for ‘ole Howard while I’m there. And wife #2.
