Being from Colorado, this gathering caught my eye a while ago but I didn’t think I’d be able to make it. However, things happen in strange ways and now, not only am I attending, I’m bringing my mom along as a distraction for her (her mom passed away recently and I’m technically travelling out for the service. Yes, I’m very opportunistic).

Mom doesn’t do genealogy—but does find my research results interesting—and has certainly never gone to anything like this, but she’s a good sport and is looking forward to hanging out with me while I do something I enjoy (all together now: awwwww). Oh, I have promised her a good supply of coffee for the duration of the conference so hopefully that pans out.

For me, it will be interesting to get her perspective on the event. I’m finding that having her along is greatly influencing the class choices I’m making as I do want her to enjoy it. I’ll stay away from computer and ‘techy’ ones (mom won’t touch a computer. literally.) and probably get some great information I otherwise wouldn’t have ventured towards.

I’m also looking forward to meeting some fellow Geneabloggers at this event; Mom will just have to deal with the computers there.

Follow along as I blog and tweet while there. After following Jamboree virtually, I definitely have ideas of what I enjoyed and was meaningful from a ‘not there but wishing I was’ perspective and hope that makes be a better blogger while I’m there.
